The Aspen ultra-wide band chipset provides a general purpose auxiliary port interface which allows it to be easily integrated with an Audio/Visual Encoder/Decoder (CODEC).
The chipset has a sustainable raw data rate of 78 Mbps, which translates to 50 Mbps throughput after coding. The latency of the chipset is less than 385 µs*, thereby allowing applications to stream A/V data without experiencing any visual lip synchronization effects.
Additionally, Aspen’s fast-tracking AGC (Automatic Gain Control) enables extremely robust multi-path performance in dynamic non-line-of-sight environments.
Some of the features of the chipset include a 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) engine for secure wireless data transfers, as well as forward error correction (FEC rates 1/2, 1/3, 2/3) for all data transfers. The auxiliary interface is extremely flexible as it is able to accept data packets as single/multi burst byte transfers. The size of the packets is scalable ranging from 36 to 512 bytes.
Aspen is a wireless transceiver, ideal for point-to-point bi-directional solutions. Aspen can also be incorporated into products which require point-to-multi-point broadcast communications.
